This is a mirror prop I made for my Kanna of the Void that I wore to OMGcon '09.
During that weekend there was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL full moon and I couldn't help but find a good place to get a picture. Not having my telescopic lens nor my 35mm camera (a very lovely and beloved piece of machinery I assure you) I decided to get a reflection of the moon in my mirror, rather than try to use my digital (new) cam to try to get a good shot of the moon herself. So I found a patch of red flowers at the hotel, set the mirror down and angled it to get the moon. I think it turned out REALLY well, looking misty and a little odd. The mirror is made from a round mirror frame that's had model magic pieces attached with gorilla glue. (the back side has multi-coloured points on it because I ran out of time to paint the back side) Took a LOT of silver paint to hide all the ugly colours and make it look like metal. But it turned out a LOT better than I thought it would. Next step is to make the mirror one way and put my camera behind it so I take pictures with my soul-sucking mirror. |
